Bureau: Archiving to CD

CD-R Archives offer a useful addition to routine tape backups. The ability to maintain accessibility to data that is not in day to day use is essential. Tape backups are used to restore whole systems or large volumes of data. These are usually controlled by a systems administrator via regular and in many companies, automated, backup routines.

CD-R backups offer rapid, unrestricted access to specific files. The ease of accessibility of data on CD along with their long-term stability, make them an ideal additional archive choice for any business.

The options for backup and archive will depend upon the flexibility of the customers current system. We can archive data directly from all our supported tape drives and system formats to CD-R.

CD-R formats currently available: Currently we write to ISO9660, Windows/NT, Apple Macintosh. Other platforms are planned for the future (check this out - slightly incorrect)

Image files: If you are worried about the short life of your tape media, we can write your data to CD-R as an image file that can be written back to tape as required. This is an ideal service for companies who have old backup tapes with data that they wish to keep without having to restore it and re-write onto new tapes. This service can be provided on an ad-hoc bureau basis or by purchase of our media conversion software. We are happy to undertake test writing of some sample data on a free trial basis.
